Preliminary animation of April 8, 2024 coronal data

Blink comparison of DEB sites 7 (Vail High School students observing in Oklahoma), 63 (Talawanda High School students observing in Ohio) and 33 (Jeremy Wright observing in Maine).  The animated 3-frame GIF is comprised of a single HDR image from each site and shows coronal evolution over approximately 40 minutes. Lots of interesting coronal changes are already apparent in this preliminary data! See the observations page for more details

Flare animation

DEB observer captures X4.5 white light solar flare

DEB site 43 in Brandenburg, KY operated by volunteer Jonathan Mangin captured an X4.5 white light solar flare on 14 Sep 2024.  Preliminary analyis shows a significant flare signature below the sunspot group. See the observations page for more details.

Ongoing solar flare observations

DEB observers are encouraged to sign up for daily solar observing timeslots to help collect data in our solar flare observation campaign.  See the observations page for more details.  Images from observing sites will be uploaded live to our project’s image server linked below.
